Research Capabilities

The Health Services Research Division (HSRD) specializes in practical and applied database and interventional research. A major emphasis is to translate evidence-based research into improved practice, patient outcomes, and cost-effectiveness. Our staff has diverse backgrounds including medicine, medical sociology, epidemiology, statistics, organizational psychology, public health, and nursing.

Research areas include pharmacoeconomics, cancer screening, prescribing safety, disease management, racial and ethnic disparities, and randomized controlled studies. HSRD maintains a close affiliation with Lovelace Health System (LHS) and ABQ Health Partners. Along with LHS and LCF Research subsidiary, Lovelace Healthcare Innovations, LCF Research became a national leader in disease management programs in the mid to late 90s.

A key strength is HSRD’s capability to manage, link, and analyze large databases of health care utilization data from a variety of sources. Studies have addressed disease prevalence, survival, utilization, development of case-finding algorithms, and treatment gaps.

In recent years HSRD has expanded its focus to community-based activities. In collaboration with local and state agencies and organizations HSRD has addressed health issues of importance to the local and statewide communities.
