LCF Research influences health care nationally, statewide, and locally through distribution of its research findings and development and promotion of its information technology (IT) networks. LCF Research has a long and positive history of collaboration with other organizations and institutions to promote and conduct healthcare research, public health research, and professional education.

LCF Research is a member of the HMO Research Network (HMORN), a group of fifteen respected research centers associated with integrated healthcare systems. This consortium uses their collective scientific capabilities to integrate research and practice for the improvement of health and health care among diverse populations.

LCF Research actively participates in the following HMORN workgroups:

  • The Centers for Education and Research on Therapeutics (CERTs) administered by AHRQ in conjunction with the FDA. The goal of this national initiative is to conduct research and provide education that advances the optimal use of therapeutics (i.e., drugs, medical devices, and biological products).
  • All fifteen members of the HMORN formed the Coordinated Clinical Studies Network (CCSN), part of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Roadmap Initiative, to create an infrastructure for answering translational research questions.
  • The Cancer Research Network (CRN), funded by the National Cancer Institute, uses the HMORN to conduct research on cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, long-term care, and surveillance to improve effectiveness of prevention, curative, and supportive interventions.
  • The Cardiovascular Disease Research Network (CVRN), which is funded by NIH, is comprised of fourteen of the fifteen HMORN member research centers. The goal of the CVRN is to increase scientific knowledge of cardiovascular diseases including epidemiology, risk and risk factors, prevention, detection and diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis – in the context of community-based healthcare delivery.

For the past decade and more, LCF Research has participated in research studies and IT initiatives that involve collaboration with scientific investigators and IT experts from the following organizations:
