The major goal of this study is to plan and implement an intervention to increase colorectal cancer screening in primary care and internal medicine clinics and to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The study received Office of Management and Budget approval this month. By the fall of 2008, we will have randomized six of ABQ Health Partner’s (ABQ HP) Primary Care and Internal Medicine Clinics into one of the following study arms: - Control group – Usual Care
- Clinic-focused intervention, including a 3-hour curriculum training on CRC screening and developing methods identified by the clinics for improving screening rates
- Clinic-focused and patient-focused interventions including the 3-hour curriculum training and clinic patients receiving mailed educational materials about CRC screening
The intervention will last one year and the results (CRC screening rates, patient behaviors, and attitudes) will be examined the following year. |
