LCF has been awarded a major contract by the federal government to have the NMHIC HIE network participate in the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) Trial Implementations. The federal contract will enable NMHIC to implement a robust Health Information Exchange (HIE) network infrastructure during the early part of 2008, including network services for laboratory results and to support network communications for emergency response. The contract also requires that NMHIC participate in the testing and demonstration of summary patient record interoperability with eight other states and communities. LCF/NMHIC will receive $3.5M for the base year of the contract, with additional funds potentially available for two subsequent optional years.
